Next Steps

1. WORK WITH COUNSELORS - Develop plan for when and how the courses will fit into the A-G plan and what they will be counted for in our school system. Develop strategies for dual offerings to make it work better for students and also potentially a hybrid set of courses as well.

2. DEVELOP PATHWAY - Develop pathway plan with counselors and the internship as well that makes sense -- what is the order, when will they need to be completed, how and what constitutes a capstone project.

3. PREPARE MARKETING for both internal and external with regards to how to market to the students, then to the community for bringing in support for the program including teaching with mentors, internships specific to this program (externships, etc.), and then additional training for me through online Masters maybe so that I have the background as well - will start this in the summer. Refresher courses through the FTE program as well.

4. PRESENT TO STAFF and LEADERSHIP. Then also prepare a presentation to the board including the classes, the pathway, and the marketing to the community.

5. DEVELOP PROGRAMS - Develop outline for the program and the competitions, etc, and the accounting work as well through Itunes and the books. Look at seeing where to get funding to support the books, the readings, the other materials for content for the students and then also work with people from Loyola and CSUDH and the community colleges, SBA locals, JA Business, FBLA, community organizations and local chamber of commerce as well. Develop speakers bureau to have them come in and work with the students from different perspectives.

6. REDO THE ROOM to make it more business like and run the classroom like a business with business sanctions and set ups as well. Make the room not just a classroom but a work room.

And it's official!

The Biz Math/Accounting course finally got approval from the U-C folks. It has been a three year labour of sweat, revision and re-thinking courses that were developed by incredible folks. It has now morphed into a pathway for students who are less than likely to go the college route. Now, we need to build the pathway up and get it moving. So excited to have this opportunity finally ready to fly and seriously get some momentum and marketing behind it.

Think it will be very good for the students and the school to be able to offer something unique. Glad that it waited till I was feeling better to become a reality. It's moving back in the positive. Now it's time to gear up, organize my stuff, get things moving. So excited to be able to reach new folks and aim for a different target market -- potentially online courses as well for those that want to take the extra courses but have no place for it in their schedule. so ready! It's going to be awesome.
